SEPTA Key Cards Taking Longer to Process
We just received word from SEPTA that they are backlogged processing the new SEPTA Key Senior Photo Identification Cards. In some cases, it is taking a lot longer than first anticipated.

Here are some general reminders:
  • If your application was submitted prior to June 30, 2017, your card was mailed. If you did not receive it, there was a problem with delivery and you should call 215-580-3450.
  • If your application was completed between July 1, 2017, and Sept. 30, 2017, your card is now in production and will be mailed in December 2017.
  • If your application was completed after Oct. 1, 2017, you should expect to receive your card in early 2018.
Remember, you can still use a paper PA Senior Citizen Transit ID; Railroad Retirement Card; Medicare Card (valid only through Dec. 31, 2017); current, valid Pennsylvania driver license; or Pennsylvania Non-Driver Identification Cards (with a magnetic stripe on the back) for travel as a senior citizen as you transition to the SEPTA Key Senior Photo ID Card.

The new Pennsylvania Driver/Non-Driver IDs issued by PennDOT after July 2017 do not have a magnetic stripe and cannot be used to validate eligibility for senior citizen fare.
