911: Call if you can, text if you can’t
As you might know, it is now possible to text “911” in emergency situations.
However, there are some differences with texting versus calling 911 to keep in mind. For some instructive orientation about 911 texting, visit here

Please take a moment to review this information, as the time to know is now and not once an emergency strikes.

In urgent circumstances, all of us tend to react instinctively based on whatever information or processes we already have in our minds, so please ensure your “brain is trained” with the knowledge to respond effectively.

For 2017, the Chester County Department of Emergency Services received
261,100 calls and 395 texts.

This is an incredible incoming volume to triage for priority and coordinate responses as appropriate.

I wish to recognize and thank the county Emergency Services team for the remarkable performance it achieves on behalf of our community.
